Transcript of Tasting Notes for Villiera Wine Estate Pinotage
This a wine from South Africa. This from the Villiera estate where it's run by the family Grier who are very prestigious winemakers in South Africa and France.
This is the Pinotage wine. Pinotage is actually a high-breed grape created in South Africa from the Pinot Noir grape crossed with the Cinsaut grape. The Cinsaut used to be called Hermitage hence the name Pinotage. Pinotage is well known for producing very, very spicy wines and this is no exception. This is a fantastically rich, really spicy wine. Right on the nose you get lots of really deep pruney rich flavours despite the fact that this is a young wine. And in the mouth, it’s very, very rich, very deep but lots of spice which really lifts the flavours.
Spicy wine should go with spicy food so I would mix this with a spicy casserole or stew for warming up on winter days. This is really a rich wine.
