Transcript of Tasting Notes for The Haka Central Otago Pinot Noir
This is the Pinot Noir from Central Otago in New Zealand. New Zealand is one of the perfect regions, especially the South Island, to grow Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir is a difficult grape to grow but when you get it right, it produces very smoky, light bodied but rich flavoured wines.
The aromas on this are quite full on; they’re spicy, peppery. In the mouth straightaway you get that smokiness. It has a really lovely raspberry, cherry sweetness to it as well but it’s really lifted by the smokiness of the Pinot Noir. This is a fantastic Pinot Noir.
They really know what they’re doing in New Zealand. It's called The Haka because they are trying to get across the fact that it's typically and only New Zealand that can produce a wine like this. It is very indigenous to them. It's a fantastic wine.
