Transcript of Tasting Notes for Domaine Grier Galamus
This is Galamus from the Domaine Grier estate in France. This is in the Cote du Roussillon which is right down in the south near the Languedoc.
It's a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan which creates a really complex, full-bodied wine. It’s been oak-aged and you can see from the colour - it’s a very dark, rich wine. Despite the fact it's only the 2006 it’s got quite a hit on the alcohol level, 13.5%. You get a real blast of cherries coming and that's from the Syrah and the Grenache together. The Carignan is going to give it a really lovely, spicy body but the smell is just amazing. And in the mouth, it's very, very smooth. You could just sit down and contemplate a glass of this. It’s very, very smooth and very warming.
It would be fantastic with something like a steak just cooked with fries very, very simply because the flavours are just bold but very satisfying. This is a good wine.
