Transcript of Tasting Notes for Bodegas Olarra Cerro Anon Tinto Reserva Rioja
This is a Cerro Anon Reserva from the Rioja region made by Bodegas Olarra. It’s a Reserva so it has been oak aged for some considerable time. In Spain, they lie it down for you and won’t release it for sale until it is ready to drink, so you know with the Spanish wine it will be ready to drink.
It has got fantastic aromas, really rich, full-bodied which is what you would expect from a Reserva. It is a 2001 so you might want to keep the bottle opened for a little while, just to breathe before serving. Fantastic aromas which lead into a really lovely full-bodied wine with lots of flavour. This is a really typical big oak-aged Rioja. You have got lots going on - really lovely wine.
I would put this with any red meat dish. Rioja locals would put this with lamb dishes; a lamb casserole, perhaps with beans in a stew - anything with big flavours because this is a big wine.
