Last Friday, the Vinbiz Online team got together to review the direction of www.vinbiz.co.uk, what we want to achieve and the mission statement. It’s a team that’s made up of the wine obsessed and web design experts –and like a fine claret, there’s greatness in the blend!
As far as the wine experts are concerned, we want the site to assist our customers in discovering their own passion for wine. If we think back to the seventies, the options available for a dining experience were limited – prawn cocktail, steak and black forest gateau. But as a nation we’ve become far more experimental and relish new taste experiences. Fusion flavours have become the norm, recipe websites abound and TV cookery shows reveal the ease of creating dishes to suit your mood, taste and occasion. We want the same revolution to happen with wine and we want our website to bring about that change.
The web designers are keen to capture the Vinbiz enthusiasm for wine which they most certainly share! But they also have technical ambitions. They want a site that is as easy to use and as informative as Amazon with the customers happily interacting with reviews and recommendations. They want the site to be a tool to provide the necessary information, through great design, enabling customers to discover the wines that will thrill and excite their taste buds without any of the pretention that is often associated with the topic.
Over a very rich caramelised garlic tart beautifully complemented by a very fine, full bodied Vouvray we created the mission statement:
To represent the concept of drinking for taste, experimentation with flavours and the value of wines that fully express distinct regional characteristics through a visual experience that is technically innovative with sleek, clever, user-friendly design.
Your feedback on whether we achieve this will be most gratefully received!
